    Series X and Astro A50’s Causing Soundbar Issue


    My Series X has intermittent audio output to my soundbar.

    Xbox audio routes to TV via brand new 8K HDMI cable, then from TV to soundbar via Optical Audio cable. A50’s are installed via Bluetooth.

    When headset is off docking system and powered on, audio goes to soundbar perfectly. As soon as headset is powered off or set on dock, the soundbar audio turns off.

    Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this?

    I'm in a similar situation...

    I use astro a50 gen 2 headset for my audio through optical port, without the optical port on the Series X my £299 astro headset is useless, just had order and spend another £299 for the astro a50 gen 4 to work with the Series X,

    I would have rather have paid an extra £5-£10 more for the Series X console for it to have an optical port than having to pay out £299 for a new headset

    I use a 4K monitor but it has no speakers, so I'm stuck with no audio at all for the Series X until I get my new headset.

    What headset are you using? My Astro A50's beep when the batteries are starting to get low. Might that perhaps be the cause of the beeping?

    One Update to support optical DD 7.1

    According to Astro's website the a40's and a50's have the ability to process the stereo output from the Xbox one into 5.1 or 7.1. I have the Astro a50's and they seem to be processing the signal to 5.1 like the astro website stated. They also recommended
    to have the 7.1 button turned on.

    I've had the Astro A50's for close to a year now and I love them. After owning the Astro's I wouldn't think about going back to another set of TB's. I owned the TB DX12's before I got the A50's.
