    Series controller disconnect issue, external hdd


    Hi, I've seen some twitter and reddit posts about controller disconnect issues and just wanted to share my experience. I've had this issue as well, but what i noticed is that it only happens when I have my external HDD close to the console. So if you're using an external HDD try placing it further away from your Series X/S.

    Complex External Hard Drive Issue

    Try this it has worked for some with external HDD issues. Disconnect the External HDD. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug
    the power cord back in and restart the console (DO NOT connect the External HDD). Once it is back up and operational then connect the External HDD and test for results. Good Luck!

    I thank you so much for a quick response. I think the best way if i am going to make a backup of my Owned Digital Games is Re-download them from Microsoft Store into a New Empty USB HDD. Because when i tried turning on my Series X and disconnected the external USB HDD prior, the games that are supposed to be in my External USB HDD are now under ready to install

    Thought I was going mad too.

    I have spent the day trying to get my XBOX ONE back online....

    I never thought of disconnecting the external HDD ( I removed kinect too) and it reconnected to the wifi.

    The solution makes no sense, I don't know why the external HDD is an issue.

    Please provide the above information. However, this has helped some with external HDD issues.

    Disconnect the external HDD from the console. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console
    (DO NOT connect the external HDD Yet). Once it is back up and operational connect the external HDD and test for results. Did the XBOX recognize the drive? Let us know. Good Luck!
