30 day period. There are several restrictions that the security information change places on your account. The article we provided contains more detailed information about what the security information change does to the account.

The account will still be usable after the phone number updates. Once the phone number is updated, we suggest

updating the rest of your security information. It is always best to have more security information on the account in case you lose access to one or the other. Also, the account will not be deleted if you do not enter more security information after the

but my son has had this account for 5 years and spent a lot of money on his xbox so is there any way I can get the account back

create a new outlook account just for contacting Microsoft/Xbox Support

this is just for them to be able to contact you, not a replacement for your sons account.

you need a fresh account as a security measure so that whoever has taken control of the account cant block your attempts to recover it.

We certainly understand the frustration with this process and your concern regarding your account. However, we're afraid that a 30-day waiting period is in effect whenever you change the security information on your Microsoft account. You can find that info
on our Update all of your Microsoft account security information page under "After you've updated all of your security information".

Additionally, support teams are not able to expedite that process.

We hope this helps to clear up your concern regarding this.

One thing to note is that microsoft account support sent me an email saying your security info was added/deleted to microsoft acc and with that below there was a random email given which dint belong to me so it could be indicating the email it was moved to or done by so with that email can the info be retrieved and access to the account taken back after which i can provide my account ownership proof and the account given back to me? I have that email id that was given in that mail and can provide it to microsoft for investigation and retrieval
