Seagate harddrive from XB1S to series s

You can just plug and play from the hard drive without having to reformat it. However, any games that are Series S/X enhanced will only run from the internal drive or the Seagate expansion card, so there may be some games you'll have to move over.

A network transfer would move them over, but just plugging in the hard drive is faster.

You can just plug it in and use like you did before. Note that the Series S has no optical drive, so any disc games you own won't work. You would have to buy them again.

Also, some of your installed games on the Seagate drive may have been upgraded to Series X|S versions. If this is the case, you will no longer be able to run these games from this external drive. Series X|S optimised games can only be run from the either internal storage or an optional Storage Expansion Card.

Obviously, if you have Series X/S games that are over 1TB and don't want to keep moving games around, then you need the Official Seagate card to run games from.

If you need the room as you have a lot of XB1 and older games, then any SSD will work and be quick enough for those games....you can get a decent 1TB SSD for £110 or so, maybe more

I use a Seagate 6tb external harddrive for my own console. A 4tb harddrive for the bedroom console and my son has a 2tb on his console. Ive had no issues with Seagate and wouldn't go anywhere else

Xbox Series X|S games can not be run from USB storage devices. These drives are too slow for Series X|S games, regardless of them being on Game Pass or not.

Series X|S games can only be played on either the Internal SSD, a Seagate Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X|S or the WD_BLACK C50 Expansion Card for Xbox
