Sea of Thieves will not update/install- Error Code 0x80070015

The Microsoft Store this morning (18/02/22) made me install the Xbox app in order to update Sea of Thieves.

Immediately, I've been running into mind-bendingly ridiculous issues; though these are not issues dissimilar to ones I've experienced on the Microsoft Store.

Whenever I tried to update the game it would immediately give me the following error:

I have checked the connections to my drive - they're fine. Other programs like Steam and even Windows Explorer are able to access the drive fine as well. I've tried the solution of "Go to Settings > Storage > Change where new content is saved > change to secondary drive" still to no success. I've restarted my computer twice over. In the end I tried uninstalling the game thinking a clean reinstall would just force the game into the right drive - I now cannot install the game at all onto the drive. I've also checked my Windows is up to date - it is.

I specifically want Sea of Thieves on my F: Drive because the game has pretty abysmal loading times on an HDD and my F: Drive is an SSD. For perspective as well the game was running fine and dandy just a few days ago. The Get Help app is utterly useless has no live chats for whatever reason so I'm now here in hopes I can get some actual help.

Solution 1:

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. If some Windows functions aren't working or Windows crashes, use the System File Checker to scan Windows and restore your files. Sometimes corrupted files can cause issues.

Solution 2: Format Secondary drive

Formatting to NTFS is also required for backing up games and captures on external storage devices connected to Windows PCs. IF you are trying to install on another drive, please make sure the hard drive is formatted correctly.

Solution 4 : Unable to update/download game on Windows 10. Error Code: 0x80070015

1) Delete the contents of C:\Users[Windows Username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsStore_[Random String]\LocalCache

Obviously, "Windows Username" is your username. The "Random String" is something generated by Microsoft when they create these folders and files, so it's different from person to person.

2) Reboot PC

Also the problem with the game not installing is only for sea of thieves but for other games they get installed but when I launch them it pops up with the error code 0x803f8001 while for sea of thieves it pops up when I try to install the game.

Update: Gaming services is finally installed after hours. Still an error when trying to download a big game (Sea of Thieves is the one I am trying to download). But now it gives another error code: 0x80070005. This is very annoying, trying to get this
fixed for days now.

What is the error code you get in Sea of Thieves.

It'll actually just show up in your downloads under the Sea of Thieves game. No codes. Got to My Games and Apps, then Sea of Thieves, hit manage game and it should be ready to install.
