Screen flickering in both 4K and 1080p

I can also confirm this. I have an LG 4k Display. I had to enable deep color to use 4k, HDR10 is not an option with my monitor but it was not in the specs so I was not expecting it, just the 4k resolution.

The xbox started flickering immediately and stopped when using 1080p resolution. I found this post and tried using a cheap walmart HDMI cable instead of the provided cable, the flickering went away and I can run 4k. The provided cable appears to be a 1080p
only cable (if such a thing exists), they should have marked it, especially with the first 4k console.

Xbox One S is not really a 4K console,

4K Media Content - Yes

You can play 4K Blu-ray DVD's or Streaming services like Netflix in 4K just fine if your paying the the 4K subscription options,

4K Gaming Content - No

As for games, it only plays games at 1080p but it is upscaled to 4K, other wise a 1080p image without upscaling to 4K, will look much worst on a 4K screen than what it would do, if it was only displayed on a 1080p screen,

A 1080p image upscaled on a 4K screen does look a little better than a 1080p image on a 1080p screen, but it still a 1080p image made to fit a 4K resolution screen, which is what the Xbox One S does

Xbox One X is a 4K console,

4K Media - Yes

4K Gaming - Yes

The issues is not the TV, it's the Xbox One S not being an Xbox One X.

not sure if the flickering is the same. But i have a sony 4k with HDR and when ever i am playing games i will get flickering., The screen does no flicker as in a HDMI problem as in turning on and off. It's more like the color flickering from dark to light
really fast. But If I turn off 4k on the Xbox it will correct the problem.

As soon as I got the new monitor I changed to 4K since the old TV I used to run it on only supported 1080p,

The monitor doesn't have HDR (it's not high end) so I don't have HDR enabled so it's probably not a HDR related issue

I'll try turning it down to 1080p and see if it experience, many thanks

Update:

I changed it to 1080p and it has behaved very weirdly,

I changed it to 1080p then proceeded to load up forza where it took a turn, just in loading the game it kept on violently flickering and at some point showing the static for up to 5 seconds and not even flickering, the screen even went completely black at
some points, once it had loaded it was more stable then when it was loading but still flickering once or twice very few seconds; very odd.

I then turned it back to 4K where it went back to the relatively stable state not flickering on loading screen and occasionally flickering once or twice every few minutes when crashing through walls or somethings.

I run my PC on 1080p on the same monitor without these problems(used to run it at 4K but the it struggled to keep a good fps at 4K) so I again don't think it's the monitor since this only happens on the xbox.

This turn of events is very weird since when I first started to notice this issue I swapped to 1080p to test and it didn't behave like this and was just as bad as 4K so it has progressed to a worse state.

Don't know what would have caused this as I have really looked after my Xbox: not limiting air flow, I haven't dropped / hit the console and it sits in the same place and isn't moved. I do remember it running quite hot on a handful of occasions when playing
COD, but it normally runs exceptionally cool and quietly and hasn't been running hot recently.

Also does anyone know how to directly contact Microsoft (not there unusable chat bot) like an email or anything since I can't find one,

I am also having this issue on my LG 47 inch LD460. While I'm at the home screen there are rainbowish flickering around certain letters and edges of the screen, and the screen cuts in and out intermittently to the point where I can't do anything. However,
when I click onto the settings menu, the flickering and the cutting in and out disappears. If I load a game, there is no flickering and it works perfectly.

Oddly, I cannot change my resolution to 1080p even thought my TV is capable of 1080p (if i switch it to 1080p the screens blacks out). I've tried using my Xbox One on a different TV and it works perfectly- it even runs on 1080p! I'm suspecting it's my TV
because I've tried switching out HDMI cables, and using different ports.

This is so annoying.
