    I'm a Systems Administrator for a Texas school district. We need Xbox accounts for our students who are on our eSports teams.

    The account creation online and in Xbox Game Bar are both telling me "You can't sign up here with a work or school email address. Use a personal email, such as Gmail or Yahoo!, or get a new Outlook email."

    There's so much going on in eSports right now with education, there must be a way to enable some district email addresses to allow Xbox accounts.

    Anyone out there have a solution? Or have the same issue?

    Hi Will. My name is Kyle and I'm an independent advisor.

    You can't use a work or school email address to create an Xbox account, because you could lose access to these emails at some point in the future.

    You must use a permanent email address for an Xbox account, I'm afraid there are no exceptions to this policy.

    All Microsoft accounts are Xbox accounts, you can even have it create an outlook email address for you when you create the account on the Xbox. Are they required to use a school account? if that is a requirement, then why not create a domains specifically for your team, and make the accounts under emails for that domain

    With their parents permission, which I assume you have since it's an official school function

    E-sports as school sports

    I am all for schools starting up e-sports programs. The only setback that I could see is the sheer cost of buying the equipment. Many school districts do not the extra budget required to run an e-sports program. Plus if there are no teachers or administration
    within the building with an understanding of how the games and equipment work then it would not be an option for an e-sports team to work.

    MS Account Recovery thinks I am trying to recover an EDU account, but I am trying to recover an Xbox account that uses my former school email that I no longer have access to.

    the school email is in fact a microsoft account and set for educational use, if you created the xbox account with that then you are stuck as the xbox account IS the microsoft account, they cannot be transferred or moved in anyway. which is why it is advised to never use a school email or work email for xbox because if you leave the school or work then you lose your account.

    Sadly it is impossible to merge xbox accounts. He must start a new account with a different email that is not associated with school or a workforce. It is also not possible to carry game data onto a different account. However it is possible to change your
