Saves lost after uninstall

I just had the same issue without uninstalling the game from game pass on PC

I say this post on Redit which tells me that PGI screwed up.

Hello,

I had been playing Mechwarrior 5 for about 30 hours for about 30 hours and had to temporary uninstall it to make room on my drive.

When i reinstalled the game my game saves. setting, everything was gone. Like what the hell, since when does uninstalling a game on Windows mean delete everything related to it like it had never been there, settings, saves and such file are usually kept
in the user folder.

A little heads up would have been nice. If i play a game from the game pass, am i supposed to never ever uninstall it unless i'm 100% sure i won't replay it again?

I'm pretty sure that's a xbox app problem and not related to the game since it has a weird way to store game files that don't match the normal games path.

It's not like anything dramatic happened but, well it sure sucks and makes me reconsider keeping my subscription to the game pass. Sure it's cheap for great games, but i'm not sure it's worth the headaches, added to how often it just wont work, download
fail with weird error codes etc.

I've found the same with a lot of GamePass games - many offer a cloud save option but it tends to default to that location.

I tend to take back-ups into a cloud save just to be sure. It's something I've fedback as well

this is why im moving away from the xbox gamepass stuff slowly, as all the xbox games that are available on gamepass pc are now on steam, i get to access the save easier to backup then.

It happens on PC or on console, too?
