Savegames and different accounts

Savegames and license for the game are 2 different things.

You can mantain your savegames, dont worry about that.

As napalm 31337 mentioned, your saves will be completely fine if you decide to purchase the game to own. All your saves will come up as usual regardless of whether you play through a physical or digital copy that you have purchased or if you are using it
through the subscription.

Can you try to start the game with a different Gamertag Account?

Maybe a world in a savegame became corrupted for that Gamertag Profile, and the game can't load the corrupted world.

If the game starts with a newly created profile, you should try to backup your savegames except one to an external USB drive, disconnect the drive, and try to start the game.

If it doesn't work, delete that savegame, and copy a different one over. If that works, copy one savegame over again, until the game gives an error again, or if all other working savegames are copied over.

OP here but it seems like the savegame folders of Xbox Game Pass games are different. Astroneers doesn't have the usual savegame path too

Can you also check what happens when you try the game with a different profile? It could also be savegame related, that somehow your savegame corrupted.
