Xbox One owners all over the world are complaining about the lack of data being provided to the Xbox One guide! Thousands of Day One supporters aren't getting the full effect of the innovative One Guide that we were all promised! ALOT of people are missing
channels and some Cable Companies aren't even aware how to fix it! Today I'm suggesting a new USER CHANNEL category for the One Guide! This will bring us one step closer by allowing us to create custom channel names with voice command support for our Xbox
One. This will allow us to name a channel (w/ voice support) and set the channel number, and view the channel without touching the cable remote
    .

Example: Jim is missing Channel #583, but he has the channel in his cable package. His Xbox One can't read the channel, therefore unable to tune to it via Xbox One (Voice & Remote). Jim goes to Xbox One Guide settings and sets a "USER Channel"
for Channel #538 and types the title (Cartoon Network).

The Xbox One needs to pull data though, so it ask if the Channel is a Duplicate that's not appearing (HD or SD). You can choose
    YES or NO.

    • If NO the Xbox will try and pull Meta Data via Internet. If unable to pull Data, the Xbox will still allow the channel to be tuned to, but with "NO INFORMATION" in the place of channel lineup via One Guide.
    • If YES the Xbox One will then have you choose which channel the data is coming from. Jim chooses channel #49 (Cartoon Network SD) as the parent channel and all program data is mirrored to Channel #538.
The Xbox ask Jim to say "Cartoon Network" to verify. Cartoon Network is added to the channel list under "All" and "USER" channels and is able to be tuned via Voice or Remote.

Intro and a few questions if I may.

"Xbox go to One Guide" will bring up the guide... from there it will be our basic on screen TV guide... you can also have a custom one guide to show your apps and Netflix shows etc on the guide as channels.... The guide still needs overall work... they
do need the change the channel listing for voice.... I watch a local sports channel .... if I say Xbox watch SNYHD2.. it has not a clue... we need it to be more like... Xbox watch channel 60

Me personally though....I rarely use the guide... my TV service (Optimum IO, has like 1000 channels.. and I use a different set of HD channels that what the XB thinks I should use) I use the cable box OEM remote... just much easier to navigate channels...

One guide issue with xfinity cable.

I have basic Comcast TV with an xfinity cable tuner. When ever I use One guide to change the channel it brings up the Xfinity TV guide instead and then I have to open one guide again and reselect the channel for it to finally go to that channel. For example,
if I select channel "107" on the one guide, you see it plug in "10" and the xfinity TV guide pops up with the channel I want in a small window. I then open the one guide again and reselect the channel. This time you see "107" be entered and the xfinity TV
guide goes away. Does anyone know how I can change it to just go right to the channel I want? Thanks

    Jump or Recall voice command

    Hi Noo Noo,

Actually there is a voice command and a controller command that do the same thing. If you say "Xbox Select" in the US it will bring up a list of channels which will include your recently tuned to channels, and the rest of the list will be popular channels.
The way bring up the last channels you tuned to with the controller is to press the View button which is on the left center of the controller next to the Xbox logo Nexus button. This brings up the recent channels mini guide and will show you all your most
    recently tuned to channels.

Need help setting up Xfinity X1 box with Xbox one

Same problem here. I have picture, guide works fine. Won't change channels.

I can even bring up the Comcast guide using the Comcast remote, but will not change the channel.

    An actual serious/legitimate kinect question

You can use Kinect to switch channels or bring up the guide. Controller isn't needed.

Possible to change channels without Kinect?

Make sure your cable provider is set up in the settings.

To use the controller simply hit X to bring up the One Guide to change channels.

SmartGlass will have a remote icon in the lower right corner that will allow you to navigate the One Guide with SmartGlass.
