    Save Game Backup


    I would like to manually back up a save file on the Xbox one.

    If you transfer an entire game to a USB drive does your current save game also get copied and saved as it is at that time?

    If yes, can you then copy that particular save back to your internal Xbox drive and choose it to override any progress/corruption you have experienced sense that time?

    What if I stored the save on another entirely different Xbox one console? Does the cloud always let you choose which data is synced if it does not match?

    I believe it is not possible to save the file on any portable device. At the time of the Xbox 360 many people used this feature to modify the files, something that was not allowed and generated many account bans.

    I realize this, but the cloud will happily update your save files even when something has gone wrong with the save. I want a save I know is safe from being overwritten by a newer bad save.

    On that note, is it possible to have the cloud only update a save when I want (other than being offline). I believe that would also work.

    There should be a backup of the save on the console. If you goto games and apps, then highlight your game, press the menu button on the controller and select manage, your game, any dlc and your backup saves should be displayed.
