Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 and Xbox Series X settings

I recently purchased the 32" Odyssey Neo G7 4K UHD Curved Gaming Monitor, featuring an impressive 165Hz refresh rate and a 1ms (GTG) response time. I’m looking for guidance on the ideal monitor settings to maximize picture quality and minimize lag during gaming sessions. Specifically, which features should I enable or disable to achieve the best visual experience?

Additionally, I’d like to know what console settings I should adjust to ensure optimal performance and reduce lag. My primary focus is on playing first-person shooter (FPS) games, so any tips tailored for that genre would be especially appreciated.

    :)

Monitors will not help reduce lag, anything that takes HDMI and has a game mode will do the same thing, which is basically every television. The 1 ms pixel reaction time is a factor of the hardware built into the monitor, and has nothing to do with the game system

you're going to have to choose between picture quality and high frame rates. I highly recommend you choose picture quality, because no matter what YouTube tells you, high frame rates will not help your gaming. The human being is 1/10th fast enough to break 30 FPS. Since you bought a 4K monitor you want to get as close to actual 4K as possible and that means that you're going to want to choose the quality settings over performance

The only time display lag is a thing is when you don't put it on game mode and leave all the processing intact. You can see this very well on a game like rock band when the lyrics scroll across the top of the screen, you'll frequently see the internal processing getting confused. These algorithms are meant for passive TV watching and not an ever-changing interactive environment.

Xbox series X question on HDR content on 1440p samsung Odyssey G7 32 inch monitor.

    Hello BLUEREAPER777,

I appreciate you for bringing this up to Xbox Forum.

I’m not sure about the transfer rate but according to a post on Microsoft Community, HDR is locked to 4k so if your monitor doesn’t accept 4k signals (tick allow 4k box in settings must be selected for HDR), it doesn’t work on 1080p 1440p displays usually only if they accept 4k signals. Because Microsoft locked it since Xbox One S and One X1.

However, Samsung leads 1440p with the Odyssey G7 which is feature-rich and equipped to handle all types of gaming and productivity. It packs a striking image with the best gaming features, as reflected in the price.

Based on other research to an article from seekingtech.com, the Xbox Series X can only support HDR when it is outputting a 4K signal. If the console is outputting at 1080p or 1440p instead, then you will get a non-HDR (also known as SDR) image.

I hope I was able to answer your queries, if not let me know so I can refer this to the technical team.

If you have other clarifications, you can get back to us by replying to this post.

I am more than happy to follow up and help you.

    Sincerely,

    1080p @ 120hz

    Hi,

Is this your monitor? Samsung Odyssey G5 LC27G55T?

If it is, according to the above link from the Rtings website, your G5 fully supports 120Hz @1440P over HDMI on the Series X.

So, I'm a little confused as to why you're using an active HDMI to Display Port adaptor as it should work fine with HDMI and there is no real need for an adaptor.

My only guess is what has already been mentioned by Farscape247 and that it could be that the refresh timings are different over DP to those over HDMI.
