I use a TP-Link Archer AC1750. It's a little old, but its been rock solid for 3 years. I hard wire directly to the router, and it keeps up my consistent 250mbps download speeds. Been thinking about upgrading to a mesh system like Google Wi-Fi.

You are probably right. The area where I live lost power several times in a span of several hours and I think thats is what may have caused the issues to start. Prior to that I never had issues. I have done factory resets and all that good standard jazz
but it just seems to lose the Wi-Fi connection, incorrect passwords messages pop up. I am thinking of just getting a new Arris that handles speeds up to 300mbps, I’m also finding out about the n/ac in the Wi-Fi area, maybe it is a sign to upgrade.

Your wifi radio in your modem may have gotten damaged. Can try a factory reset and reprovision. May just need to get a regular router with good wifi and just use the modem as a modem only.
