Rewards promotion via Microsoft Store... some confusion!

I pre-ordered a title from the Microsoft Store based on this Rewards promotion emailed to me stating, "...you can pre-order your Xbox One or Xbox 360 games through Microsoftstore.com and earn 15,000 Rewards Credits for each pre-orderable game
that ships by December 31, 2016..." It also states, "Important note: Make sure to use the email associated with your Xbox Live Rewards account when you place your order through Microsoftstore.com, as that will confirm delivery of your Rewards
Credits once your pre-order ships. Xbox Live Rewards members qualifying for the offer will not also qualify for the $10 Gift Card promoted on Microsoftstore.com."

My confusion comes from the fact that when you pre-order a game, even if you use your correct email account, it automatically adds the $10 gift card promo to your cart without a way to remove it. So how do I know I will get the 15,000 rewards instead of
the $10 card that was forced into my cart? Also, it's worth noting just about every pre-order game has the $10 gift card promo attached to it, so that would mean basically NONE of the games are eligible for the 15,000 rewards credits, unless the rewards program
automatically overrides the $10 promo but doesn't indicate it in any way.

Any help or clarification would be greatly appreciated, as this determines how I choose to make my purchases.

Did you buy the Xbox via a Microsoft store or a another retailer? That promotion is for the MS store.

I never received $10 promo code offered with a preorder of Gears of War 4

Sounds like there's some confusion over where the purchase was made which would affect eligibility for the $10 (or 15,000 Rewards credits). Did you purchase your copy of Gears of War 4 on your Xbox One console, the Microsoft Store app on a PC, or via the
website?

The Microsoft Store emails just send default information. So everything will still show the $10 gift card during your order. But you should still receive the 15,000 credits about 10-15 business days after your order ships.
