Reward Points issued instead of Gift Card

On 8/3/15 I pre-ordered Rare Replay and it was to come with a 10 Dollar Gift card. After placing the order I received a conformation e-mail and this was at the bottom.

"Rare Replay for Xbox One - Additional Product Information:

Your $10 Xbox gift card code will be sent to email address associated with purchase within 10 days of game being shipped."

I pre-ordered a game off the Microsoft Store online and never received the 10 Dollar gift card for pre-ordering. After working with support online I found that this was issued reward points and not the gift card I was expecting. I was planning on using this
in store or on-line. If there is a way to use points in either of these place I'm unaware.

Please help. Why did I get points and not a gift card? Can I use points in store? What do I need to change so that I am issued a Card and not points for future purchases.

I have not received $10 gift code with pre-order game for Call of Duty: Black Ops III for Xbox One

The $10 gift card is a promotion from microsoftstore.com. You would need to contact their customer service for assistance with the offer.

If you are a rewards member, you will receive 15,000 rewards credits instead of the $10 gift card.

Accidentally picked wrong rewards

I just traded 5,000 reward points for an XBOX digital gift card, direct deposit. I accidentally picked the direct deposit when I wanted to do a regular digital gift card so I could give it to my friend. I don't have XBOX Live so
credit will never be used. Is there a way it can be taken out of my account and convert it into a regular digital gift card or refund the reward purchase so I can trade in the reward points for the right gift card?

You received the rewards credits because you are a rewards member. While the promotion is running, you will receive those credits instead of the gift card. You can only use the credits to make purchases from the Xbox Live store (digital purchases)

The offer is only valid on up to 3 pre-orders. So if you've pre-ordered anything else, you will most likely get the credits again. The only way to ensure you won't receive the credits, is to make the purchase using an email address that is not attached to
your Rewards account.

On the rewards app, i have the auto redeem on for the £5 gift card and it’s taken the point of my account but hasn’t given me the 5 pounds. I used the rest of my points for a £10 gift card on the app and that worked.

The points have now been given back instead of giving the £5 gift card

Actually you can use funds from a gift card to purchase subscriptions, you just need enough to cover the next payment or a cr we dit card/Paypal on file as well.

It would probably be better to use the Microsoft Rewards points on a game pass subscription instead of a gift card if you can though to make it easier to gift it to them.

You cannot buy Google Play gift cards with Microsoft Rewards Points as they aren't available on Microsoft Rewards or Microsoft gift cards. If you happen to have a redeemed Amazon gift card tied to your Amazon account, you may be able to just search Google
Play gift cards on Amazon and purchase it with your available Amazon credit. Using the Redeem tab on Microsoft Rewards, going to shop, and then selecting the Amazon gift card (if you have enough points) may be able to get you a Google Play gift card you are
looking for on Amazon. Please understand that may work, it is not guaranteed to work.

As another user had pointed out, you could also try and redeem your rewards points for a Walmart or Target eCard (online gift card similar to Amazon) and buy a Google Play gift card through their websites or online or in store. Those are also not guaranteed
to work but may work.

Google Play gift cards aren't currently an available reward option but there are plenty others.
