retreiving xbox 360 account on xbox one and the name is strangely different

Hi there!

I hope you can help. I have purchased and am in the process of setting up the new xbox one S. During the set up it asked me for my old account details and email I was using on the 360. I typed everything in and now it has greeted me with a 'Hello PlumbFlea737290'
(name slightly altered for security) but that is not the name I have been using since xbox original days.

correct gamer tag

my gamer tag sgalpha373 was also my account name. Xbox 360 changed my account name to . What does that mena, also will I be paying for 2 different accounts with my Xbox One ?

How do I transfer my Xbox 360 Gold account to Xbox One ... when I set it up (Xbox One that is) I used the suggested user name which is different from my Xbox 360 user name .... and I don't seem to have the Gold account attached to the Xbox One even though
I used the same email address and password .....

Are you sure you are using the same microsoft account you used with your 360?

It's pretty strange it got renamed and it should not have happened.

Does your purchases and games still there?

What about the achievements?

One things that comes in my mind is that Xbox deleted some old and inactive accounts, and maybe created a new temporary gamertag for you?

Ah my bad on this one! Sorry I logged in to the wrong account, too many email addresses... The only thing is that because I signed into another account first it gave me the option of automatically signing me into that account for future use when I turn
it on. Is there any chance I can change it to my correct account, the one that actually has Live and all my achievements?

 

Yes. You would change it in the settings.
