    Restore factory defaults while keeping OS updates


    Recently bought an Xbox One X. Am selling old Xbox One. If I do a factory reset, will that also delete all the operating system (OS) updates or will they remain on the Xbox One?

    Personally, I have not experienced this kind of issue from the recent OS update.

    I'm curious if you've already tried
    resetting the console to factory defaults     while keeping your games and apps installed. If you've not already tried this. It couldn't hurt to give it a shot.

    I need to sell one of my Xbox ones because i'm moving if i restore it to the factory default before selling it do i lose my account,saved games and so on. i don't want the person person i sell it to have all my info. HELP

    Hi

    No this will not cause the console to delete the OS updates. When you start the restore factory defaults you will be given the option to keep games and apps or delete everything.

    After restoring to factory defaults, it doesn't change the OS version/build. It stays on the same (August) update. :(

    Have you already tried to
    restore the factory defaults    ? There appears to be a boot problem with the OS and a restore should make the console work again.

    Hello Mark,

    Sorry for the issue with signing in and adding your account. Being the account is already off the console, we suggest to do a

    soft factory reset     where you select keep games and apps. This will restore console to factory default and fix any corrupt files in the OS.
