Restarting a green screen of death Xbox without the pair button

Unfortunately, the only way we can manually reset or perform an offline update of your console is to use the pair button and power button to enter the troubleshooter page. I have just experienced the same issue. My Xbox crashed in the middle of an update and now after the green boot up screen I get the black screen of death. I've tried soft and hard reboots and after holding down the sync and eject button I am now stuck in low resolution black screen of death.

Not sure what I'm supposed to do and now my sons and I are without a gaming machine.

After yesterday's update on my Xbox I ended up in an endless black screen of death. Tried all the eject-pair without getting any result. I tried holding eject-pair first and THEN turn on the xbox! And finally the reset to factory settings came around!

Just to be sure. The headset is not turning on at all?

If it is turned on but not able to be paired with your console:

First be sure that both devices are in pairing mode (hold down the pair buttons for 2 seconds; the power lights will flash when the devices are in pairing mode).

If that doesn’t work, try restarting both the console and the headset, then try pairing them again.

To restart your headset: Use the green power button on the back of the headset’s left earcup to turn the headset off. You should hear a power-down sound, and the power light (just above the power button) will turn off. Wait a few seconds and then press the power button again to restart the headset.
