Resolution setting caused black screen

I was messing with the resolution settings in the Xbox 360 settings, not in the TV settings. I’m not sure what I clicked on but I when I pressed it, the TV went black and now I can’t see to put the settings back to where they were.

HELP ME PLEASE!... Attempted to reduce audio lag for "RockSmith" by using AV/HDMI...

I have an x-box 360 slim hooked up to my flat-screen via HDMI. I tried to hook my x-box 360 up using my HDMI output for video and AV Composite for my audio to reduce the audio lag it caused with "RockSmith". I was having trouble with my x-box automatically
changing display settings due to the auto-detect that was enabled, so I disabled it. When I went into display settings my x-box froze up for a split second making me scroll down to one of the highest resolutions you can select, and this caused my screen to
go black. There's usually an option asking if you want to keep that particular resolution, but blind to whether i was selecting YES or NO I chose yes.

Now my screen is completely black when hooked up to HDMI and cant change settings for it unless its hooked up to it. can anybody help

Once you hook up to a higher resolution it takes precedes over smaller ones. By picking 1080p you console has saved it in the settings. When your hooking it up to the 720P the Xbox is looking for the 1080p signal but there isn't one thus causing the black
screen. You have to bring it back to 1080p TV and lower the setting to 720p and save it then move to new TV. The Xbox unfortunately does not have a resolution auto-detection installed.

Michael, when the console flashes black screen, it means the device is not supporting the image.

We are not able to assist your screens, such as your TV or monitor.

But I will give an example to understand.

A samsung tv usually has Game mode, this game mode, depending on how it is configured and how the console resolution is configured, causes an error and starts to flash the screen.

So take a look at these TV settings, and especially the console settings, like choosing a resolution compatible with the device, disabling 4k, or 120hz on the console.

When it blinks to the black screen and comes back does it show what resolution it is set at?

I have found that on my tv even though it is a 1080p Full HDTV Samsung, I cannot have my console display resolution set for 1080p on my tv. The only way to have it not blink to a black screen is to have the console set at 720p instead.

This may explain why it works on the smaller 22" tv and your kids TV. Just a thought, it may not be the issue but sounds similar so it could help.

Hi,

the trobleshooting did not bring much. Setting out all options HDR ect I got in the list of possible resolutions also 640 * 480. The image was ok with this resolution (no fuzzy, no green), but not sufficient for gaming. Then I tried to set better resolutions.
With 720p the screen remained black, with 1080p was again fuzzy and green, with even higher resolution remained black.

My impression is that there is a problem with the grafic card... For some reason it is not anymore able to manage good resolutions on bigger monitors.

I woudl appreciate if you have some further advices....
