    Reset Inactive Accounts Gamertags


    I think resetting inactive players gamertags would be a good thing. Why should a person who has not been active since 2007 and has 0 gamerscore have a gamertag that they don't even use? Just a thought though.

    Do you think Microsoft will clear out old unused gamertags?

    They actually do this but its not live gamertags as much as Microsoft accounts goes inactive for x period they will purge it

    there's a lot of gamertags that are definitely inactive with no gamerscore and banned accounts will you guys reset them?

    Reset Inactive Accounts Gamertags

    If a person doesn't sign into their account for 5 years, it will be reset.

    Keep in mind the gamertag system is in use on other Microsoft services. So even if it's not in use on an Xbox, it may in use somewhere else.

    How to submit a ticket for requesting an inactive account gamertag to be reset?

    I want to change my gamertag to the name I use on all other platforms, the gamertag is used by an inactive (atleast 5 years inactive) Xbox account. How can this gamertag be reset so that I can use it on my own account?
    If they sign into the Microsoft account their xbox gamertag is tied to in order check their email at least once every 2 years then this will also make their account (active) and basically would never have their gamertag reset as long as they do that.

    Because of that there really is no way to know for sure if an account is inactive or not.

    Pretty sure if the account is completely inactive with no sign ins, the gamertag will be reset.

    Gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live so you can't know if the tag is in use or not.

    As said,they reset a load of gamertags when they shut down live on the original xbox but people were snapping them up to sell them so wether they reset them again is anyones guess.

    It's so dumb how people make accounts just to have a gamertag and never use it though. They need to come up with a system to fix that.
