What did you mean by when you went to sign in it said that it's being used by another account? And which portal, device, or app did you try to sign in your account to get that error message?

I see. You must be using a different account email address that's why you can only access the new one. Your old account has a different email address. In order to begin with the account recovery, it is important that you first know the correct email address that's linked to your old account.

You mentioned that it was part of a family group? Please try to check it again using the Xbox Family Settings app. Make sure it's the organizer's account who's signed in on the app.

It gave me a message on the main screen, I've been using an xbox series s and logging in through my phone. I've been in a loop as I now technically have two accounts with one email but I can't access the older account

Thanks for your response. Technically, it's not possible to have two or more accounts with only one email address. Our accounts' email addresses are the primary key in accessing our accounts. So there's no way it can be used by another account.

When was the last time you had access to your old account? You may check your email history or other devices where your old account might still be logged in.
