Replacing account with an alias

Hi there,

I am looking to remove my current primary email for my Xbox account and replace it with an alias. The current primary is not important to me, so I don't really care if its information gets deleted. My question is, though, will all my Xbox data (friends, account information, game data, etc.) be saved when I delete it? In other words, if I delete my current primary email from my Xbox account and replace it with another, will I lose everything? I have added the alias to my account and switched it to the primary one, but it is not appearing on my profile.

Hi! My name is Ben a fellow member here in the community, not a Microsoft employee. Hope you are doing well!

With regards to your concern, based on the Microsoft Xbox page itself. It can take up to 48 hours for the change to be implemented across all Microsoft services.

In addition to that, there is this part highlighting this statement: "Concerned about your licenses? Don’t worry—if you change your account alias, or remove an alias and then add a new one, all licenses linked to your Microsoft account will remain with your account."

Meaning that you won't lose any purchases you've had however, if the email address you are planning to remove is part of Microsoft domain then you cannot use it again anymore. More details can also be found here https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/account-pro...

Hey there JacybPorter,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forums, when you update the primary email address (alias) to a Microsoft account you are simply replacing the old one. Unfortunately there is no way to actually move the Xbox profile to a new Microsoft account.

Just be aware that replacing the alias will delete the old one and replace it with the new one, in other words if replaced it will delete your dads alias and replace it with the new one.

Hello!

Unfortunately a Microsoft Account can only have one primary account alias. Since Hotmail.com email addresses are already existing Microsoft Accounts they can not be used to replace existing alias'. You can create a new Outlook.com email to set as your primary
alias.

My apologies the account is still active but my email and alias were deleted and replace is there away to fix.

Warning! If you choose to remove an alias that uses a Microsoft domain such as @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, or @live.com, that alias will be completely deleted and will not be available to sign in to any Microsoft services.
