Replacement elite controller also defective and I can't return or exchange it

The Elite 2 controller I bought 2 ish years ago had the right bumper stop working. I discovered that was a fairly common issue and I went to file a warranty claim, alas it had expired. I was given the option to buy a new one for about $85 and decided to do that. I tried using my wired headset with it tonight and the audio port doesn't fully work. I can hear things but the microphone connection doesn't work. I tried the same headset on other controllers and it worked fine. I tried a different set of headphones on the controller and had the same issue.

Because I bought it as an out of warranty replacement it doesn't look like I can return my "new" broken controller, or get a refund.

Has anyone else dealt with this issue? What did you do to get the controllers fixed/repaired/replaced/refunded?

The replacement device must have a minimum warranty of 3 months depending on the country you are in, if the replacement page indicates that it is out of warranty you should contact a support agent on the contact page and try to update your warranty.

I bought it from amazon

Go to Amazon then Your orders, find the controller order, select Return or replace items and replace defective item. Wait for the replacement then send old one back. Just make sure to return old one before the date it shows.

Or select the order and have Amazon call you if you want to talk to a person to resolve the exchange.

If it's still within 90 days, you can get your controller repaired/replaced by Microsoft
under warranty service (register your console's serial number).

However, if you are still within the Amazon return period, I suggest you set up a return/exchange with your Amazon seller due to a defective controller. You will likely need to send back all contents of your order (see the return terms of your Amazon order).

Sorry to hear about what happened. Just to confirm, all of your buttons are working except the right D-pad? Have you tried to restore your controller mapping or configuration if that fixes the issue?

Make sure that your controller is up-to-date and is fully charged. Try connecting it with a USB cable if the issue is the same.
