    Replace XBox One Optical Drive


    Hello,

    My XBox One's optical drive has died.

    Can anyone tell me which products will be a suitable replacement part? I don't mind installing the new drive, however I haven't found anyone so far who can assure me of the correct type (make and model) of drive that I should be purchasing.

    Thoughts?

    Sounds like you have an issue with the optical drive in the unit. Since it's from 2014, I'm assuming it's an original Xbox One and more than likely out of warranty. Without taking apart the console to clean the drive, there are several optical disc drive
    cleaning discs on the market for around $10 USD. I just did a search and saw several options. Many of them have a little brush that attempts to clean the optical sensor on the drive. At this point this would be something to try, otherwise you will need to
    replace the optical drive or send the unit in for repair.

    I have sent THREE consoles to xbox for the optical drive grinding, they dont care they replace th drive then it breaks again.....

    Can I use an external optical drive with my Xbox One S?

    The drive on the One S (purchased 01/03/17) is refusing to read games disks.

    Alternatively what is the drive replacement cost and who should do it?

    Very disappointed that the console has developed this fault so early.

    I'm located in Australia and bought the drive from JB HIFI.
