remove XBOX from Google Home / Digital Assistant

Hi guys,

there still seems to be a serious bug when having XBOX linked through digital assistant with Google Home! I didn't turn off digital assistant on my old XBOX One S before selling it. Then i successfully removed it from my Microsoft account (under devices) and afterwards i added my new XBOX Series S.

When linking my XBOX account with Google Home it now shows 2 devices and adds 2 devices to my home. The first and old one cannot be removed and it's the one Google tries to reach through voice commands! :-/

I can cross check by disabling digital assistant on my new XBOX Series S. When re-adding XBOX account to Google Home, then it still adds one device - the old XBOX One S! Activating digital assistant on new XBOX Series S again and re-adding XBOX account to Google Home, it adds 2 devices again. So it was my fault not disabling digital assistant on my old XBOX One S before resetting and selling it... (of course i thought removing the old XBOX One S from my Microsoft account would do the job).

There must be a way to remove old XBOX-es not only from devices in Microsoft account. It has to be checked and removed from the XBOX account for Google Home (or the digital assistant account, whatever Microsoft is doing internally) too!!! Please add this possibility and check Microsoft accounts for deleted devices still being included in XBOX account (or digital assistant account)!!!

Try to remove the old Xbox One from the room it was assigned to. If you had any routines setup, I suggest making sure your new Xbox has a different nickname than your old one. Then just change the names in your routines to the new Xbox nickname. From what I can see you can’t fully remove it, without fully removing/unlinking both Xbox’s.

This is not something that can be solved by Microsoft, seems to be the Google home device

Just did another little test.

When adding my Xbox account to Google Home (with only the old Xbox, digital assistant disabled on new Xbox!) and then renaming the old Xbox inside Google Home, after removing my Xbox account from Google Home again and then re-adding it, my old Xbox is renamed like before in Microsoft account, so Google Home is getting it's information clearly from there and it's my guess it's Microsoft's task to provide the right information from my Microsoft account. How should Google get noticed that i removed an Microsoft device if not Microsoft provides that information through "Xbox account"!?

...and to be honest after spending quite some time and money, i really don't care who's fault it is. If it's not Microsoft then at least it's their product and they should cooperate/pressurize with Google on that case. I'm not the only one and quite a lot may follow while switching to next gen!!!

You can confirm that from the Google support site, however, that's the option available, but you can also post any suggestions in the idea hub from Xbox

Thanks for replying.

As you can see this problem isn't new and i really doubt it's on Google's side, as i can "enable/disable" the appearance of my new Xbox by just using the Xbox setting "digital assistant" on "Microsoft's side".

Renaming, removing and all recommendations like that aren't true solutions, as already the "Xbox account" lists 2 devices before linking or reconnecting with Google home. So it needs to be deleted from there, not inside Google home as it's not linked to Google home by this time...
