Remove the password for Xbox One

The password you are being prompted to provide is not for the console itself, but for the Xbox account this person left on your console.

You do not this account's password to remove it from your console, to do so, you can simply sign in to a different account (if you have one) or skip the signing process, then go to Settings > Account > Remove Accounts > Select the account you want to remove > Remove.

The console was never set up for a password before.

This was shown on the screen.

I noticed the email on the screen, I sent him an email.

He replied: " Just delete the account". I am clueless. Asking for more help. He did not reply.

This sounds like someone might have set a passkey for one of the accounts on your console, does the screen for the password you are referring to look like this?



- If it does, please give this a try:


• Input the wrong passkey three times in a row.
• Enter the account's password to sign in.
• Go to Settings > Account > Sign-in, security & passkey > Delete my passkey.


- If this passkey was set for an account you don't have access to, you can simply remove it by going to Settings > Account > Remove Accounts > Select the account you want to remove > Remove.

If it is a Xbox One the best thing to do is to go to account.microsoft.com and change the password this will require ALL devices that the account is on to enter the new password the next time they try to sign into the account.

There is no way to remotely remove an account from an Xbox One.
