Remove #numbers in gamertag

Hello Microsoft support and community

I was playing minecraft an hour ago, i migrated my account in 2022 i think, so i stopped using my Gmail account for Mojang and i started to use my microsoft account to log in. I even got a migration cape, but i tried to log in again and now its not working, if youre wondering why i logged out its because i noticed my XBOX gamertag was one without a letter. I dont want to mention my real gamertag untill microsoft support contacts me but it was something like: Rered8 (xbox gamertag) and Rered8x (minecraft mojang gamertag). After i changed my xbox gamertag to Rered8x it automatically added the #numbers at the end of it. If its going to be solved, please let me know.

The numbers are given if you're using a gamertag that is already in use on the servers or if you use special characters. The only way to not have the numbers is to change your tag to something no one else is using.

However, ill lose my minecraft purchase right? since that one uses a name that i now cant get

That means that the gamertag you initially chose is unavailable. You can change to one that is available or try different a different gamertag.

You'd have to change it to something else and then change it back. Keep in mind it can take time for the servers to update to show a tag as being free so it may not be available without numbers immediately.
