Remove auto created gamer tag and add my actual one

Hi all,

I'm wondering if you can help me as I'm trying to remove an auto-created gamer tag from my main Microsoft account and add my actual Xbox account.

Years ago I had an Xbox live account that I continue to use to this day. I wanted to move it to my Outlook address so I clicked on the Xbox app but it auto created a gamer tag with a ridiculous name. Now that my Outlook account has a gamer tag associated with it, I'm unable to send my real gamer tag to it.

Does anyone know how I can remove the auto-created gamer tag that I've never used and add my real one?

That is correct you would need to create a new alias instead, it can't be transfered.

the email account is the microsoft account which in turn is the xbox account, they are all one and the same, you cannot transfer an xbox account to another email, you would need to create a new alias instead.
