Remove 4 numbers after username

How do I know that nobody is using this username and I also don’t want to spend another 10 dollars just to do that

You can try searching for it in the Xbox app, but the system should also tell you before you complete the change that it will add the suffix.

The only way to do that is to change your tag to another gamertag that nobody else is using and that doesn't include special characters. There is no way to remove them otherwise.
