Remote play xbox pc app black screen

    Hi there NicholasGurepala.

I am Lumie and I would love to assist you today.

I am so sorry you are having issues with your Xbox PC app remote play.

Here are some in-depth troubleshooting steps that you may not have come across yet.

    Check Internet Connection:

Ensure both your Xbox console and your PC have stable and fast internet connections. Remote play requires low latency and sufficient bandwidth to function correctly.
Consider using a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi to reduce latency.

    Update Software and Drivers:

Ensure your Xbox is running the latest system software. Go to Settings > System > Updates to check for updates.
Ensure the Xbox app on your PC is updated to the latest version from the Microsoft Store.
Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update to check for updates.
Update your graphics drivers to the latest version from the manufacturer’s website (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, Intel).

    Check for Xbox Network Issues:

Go to Settings > General > Network Settings on your Xbox to check the network status. Any issues here might impact the remote play experience.
    Restart Devices:

Restart both your Xbox console and your PC. This can resolve temporary glitches that might be causing the black screen.
    Advanced Troubleshooting Steps
    Reset the Xbox App:

Navigate to Settings > Apps > Apps & features on your PC.
Find the Xbox app, click on it, and then select Advanced options.
Scroll down and click Reset. This will reset the app to its default state.

    Reinstall the Xbox App:

Uninstall the Xbox app from Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
Reinstall it from the Microsoft Store.

    Adjust Display Settings:

Ensure your PC’s display settings are set to a standard resolution (e.g., 1920x1080).
Disable any multi-monitor setups temporarily to see if this resolves the issue.
Check your Xbox console’s display settings to ensure it’s set to a compatible resolution.

    Check Graphics Card Settings:

Access your graphics card control panel (e.g., NVIDIA Control Panel, AMD Radeon Settings).
Ensure that no settings are set to override the app’s default display settings. Try setting the app to use your discrete GPU instead of integrated graphics, if applicable.

    Disable Background Apps:

Close any unnecessary background applications that might be consuming resources or causing conflicts, such as screen recording software, VPNs, or other game launchers.

    Network Configuration:

Ensure that ports required for Xbox Live and remote play are open on your router. Common ports include 3074 (UDP and TCP), 53 (UDP and TCP), 80 (TCP), and 88 (UDP).
Check for any network settings on your router that might be blocking or prioritizing traffic that could affect remote play.

    Check Xbox Console Settings:

On your Xbox, go to Settings > Devices & connections > Remote features.
Ensure that Enable remote features is turned on and the console is set to Instant-On mode.

    Inspect HDMI Connections:

If your Xbox is connected to your TV via HDMI, ensure the HDMI cable is properly connected and functioning. Sometimes display issues can indirectly affect remote play.

    Run Xbox Network Troubleshooter:

On your PC, go to Settings > Gaming > Xbox Networking.
Run the troubleshooter to identify and fix any network issues specific to Xbox services.

Check if any third-party antivirus or firewall software might be blocking the Xbox app’s network activity. Try temporarily disabling them to see if this resolves the issue.
Reboot your PC in Safe Mode to check if any third-party software is causing the problem.
If possible, test remote play on a different PC to see if the issue is specific to your current setup.

I shall be here for your response. -Lumie

PC app remote play not working properly.

Everything on my computer works fine. I can play games fine and making a new windows user does not fix it. It is an issue with remote play on the Xbox PC app specifically, nothing else. It connects for a brief moment with audio, but would be a black screen and then disconnect. only saying "something went wrong".

Please, follow these steps: Press Windows Key + X > Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced Network Settings > Network Reset > Reset Now. Then, try using the Microsoft Edge browser: https://www.xbox.com/play/ In case it still does not work, try accessing the site using the browser's InPrivate mode. To use InPrivate mode on Microsoft Edge, click the three dots on the top right of the screen and select "New InPrivate Window". You can also press CTRL+SHIFT+N keys together on your keyboard. Another option is to install the Xbox PC App and try it from there: https://www.xbox.com/apps/xbox-app-for-pc I hope this helps.
