Remote play won't start my Xbox One anymore

I like being able to remote play on my phone while my Xbox is back at home. It's been working to do this for a while now, and as of today, has stopped working.

As if right now, in the Xbox app, it just says the console is "Standby on". Whenever I try to use the remote feature or remote play to turn it on, I always get a message saying to try later. The console is connected to both power and a stable Ethernet controller. It's set to sleep and not shutdown on power off and allow all remote play features. It's also on the newest update.

Does anyone else have this issue??

It worked fine up to last night and both my phone and pc don't work, even after checking for app updates and even reinstalling the app. I even got someone back at home to unplug and replug in the Xbox, to which it said it was on for a minute before going back to Standby.

Sorry to hear about that. It’s possibly due to the console being on standby for a long time. Sometimes, it’s best to power it off completely and then turn it back on normally so the system can completely refresh and delete any corrupted files.

If unplugging it didn't work, you might need to reset your console but keep your games and apps. In this case, it would be best for you to do it since you need to sign in again, but still your discretion if you trust the person at home, you may just change your password after if you prefer. This will delete any corrupted data in your console's OS. Ensure that you know your Microsoft account and password before doing so and your console is connected to the internet.

Press Xbox button> Go to System> Settings> System> Console Info> Reset Console> Keep Games and Apps

Once it restarts > Sign In > Choose your last settings

Also, in my own experience, it might be an issue with your network at home, you can ask the person at home to restart your router as well.

Ok I did all that and Mine still won't work and it has worked in the past many times.. has there been updates that my old Original Media Remote won't work with Xbox anymore..?? but works fine with TV

I have the Xbox Series X and was playing remote play on my Surface Pro 6 , it won't load up every time I try to do remote play on my surface and I'm not near my Xbox

I have this same issue with the remote not always controlling the volume on my Sony sound bar. One other thing I noticed besides the hit or miss volume control is that my Xbox won't change the volume either through remote control or voice control for the
first 5 or so minutes after the Xbox starts. Going to try to unplug and restart to see if that fixes the issue but I agree very annoying, the remote works ok besides that.

This is definitely an issue with the Xbox One, not any STB hardware or remotes. Everything was working fine before the update. Tried watching TV 30 minutes after update, and none of the media controls on my remote work anymore.

When I press play/ff/rewind on the remote, the Xbox One OSD highlights the button I pressed, but my STB never receives an IR signal. If I use the controller to perform the same actions, it works fine. I've tried this with 3 different universal remotes, all
of them exhibit the same issue.

This needs a patch ASAP.
