    Remote Play Doesn't Work in IOS 16


    My iPhone running IOS 16 works great when using remote play from my Xbox series S (on the same Wi-Fi). However, if I am trying to use cellular 5G, it doesn’t work. I have tried everything and I can guarantee that this is an issue with the Xbox app in IOS. If you are using iOS 15, you won’t have any issues using Xbox remote play over cellular. I have tested and can confirm that if you try and initiate an Xbox remote play session over cellular, it will send a signal that turns on your Xbox (I am sitting in front of my monitor), but on your phone’s screen, you will get an error message that says “We found your console but can't connect. Try from a different Wi-Fi or cellular network.”

    Please fix this Microsoft.

    Please also note that I work in the industry as a technology support specialist. I am part of the IT service desk that supports over 237,000 users. So, I have tried everything and unfortunately, this needs to be fixed on Microsoft’s end.

    Please also note that PlayStation remote play works flawlessly over cellular on IOS 16.

    Please also note that I have the latest version of IOS 16.1.1 and I also have the latest version of the Xbox app 2022.11.2

    Yes already tried resyncing with console and also reset my mobile phone network settings completely.

    Thank you for finally acknowledging the issue and not making excuses or deflecting. Much more satisfying answer than ones past given for these complaints. Please keep the community updated when a fix goes live so we aren’t left in limbo wondering what’s going on or if any progress has been made. Thanks again.

There is currently a known issue when using Remote Play to connect to a console over cellular or external Wi-Fi networks on devices running iOS 16. We understand this is a frustrating issue for players who enjoy remote play on the go. The team has been able to reproduce the issue and is investigating. Unfortunately, there is no ETA at the moment. We will share the updates as we make progress.
