Remote Install from Xbox Game Pass app on my Android Phone no longer works April 2021

Since the last update, Remote Install function of the Xbox Game Pass app on my Android Phone no longer works.

The following versions gives me an error when I try to Remote Install:

v2103.15.407

v2104.14.418

I managed to get an older version from my backup, v2011.50.1215, and this works! Remote Install works fine on this version.

Remote Install also works from my Chrome browser on my desktop PC running Win10.

This makes me believe that the Remote Install not working on the latest versions is not related to my Xbox One console, nor to any of my home network.

I would like to use the latest app, but because Remote Install does not work, I am forced to use an older version. The issue with the older version is that it forces an update and it won't let me continue if I refuse. I have a work-around: I switch off the wifi on my phone. This allows me to get to the login screen, then I can switch the wifi back on and use the app. It's a hassle and I don't want to keep doing this.

I have followed all your steps exactly but it has not resolved the error. I still can not perform a Remote Install from the app.

The fact that the old version still works and the new version doesn't indicate that their is a bug in the new version.

I highly recommend following the troubleshooting steps below one by another:

1. Close the app from the recent applications menu.

2. Restart your phone.

3. Clear the app cache. Go to Settings > Apps, select the app, then select Storage > Clear cache.

4. Clear the app storage, then try again. Go to Settings> Apps, select the app, then select Storage > Clear storage.

5. Uninstall and reinstall. Press on the app icon until you get the option to Uninstall. Then reinstall the app from the Play Store.

I followed the instructions again and it still did not work.

I had to re-install the old version so that I can perform the required Remote Install for the Game Pass monthly quest reward.

Once that Game Pass monthly quest is completed, I'll go back to the current version for another month.

This is getting ridiculous. That the old version works fine, but I'm forced to use a broken new version. It would be nice if Microsoft removed the forced update on the old version so that I can continue to use it until the new version is fixed.

Remote play ala xcloud is only available on gamepass ultimate

Game.streaming.via.the xbox companion app requires a xbox

Keep in mind you can't.use.the.xbox while you are.using.the wireless gamestreaming

Huh? Remote Play is nothing to do with Xcloud or Game Pass. And if it won't work, then how can they get it working on their Android device? And they have an Xbox so that's not the issue.

They are trying to Remote Play their Series X games from their Series X console to their PC via the Remote Play feature and using the Xbox App. This should work without an issue, as it does with their Android device. There is nothing on the Remote Play page to suggest Game Pass is needed

In the Game Pass android app, cloud games are listed as "install to" with no option to play. This all started on my new phone.
