Remind me, how does the garage system work?

I never really bothered doing much when I played on the last gen version when it was released besides doing the main story missions. This time around I'm exploring much more of the game. So I bought the 30's inspired Hotknife for Michael to solve the new
murder mystery with for 90K, took it on a mission which made me lose it. I wasn't worried as I expected it would be impounded but that wasn't the case. I checked my safe house and garage but it's nowhere to be found and it seems it's gone.

What do I need to do to have the vehicle save and locked to me?

That reminds me...is this car grouped into the Dodge garage? Or did they put it in its own SRT garage?

 

Question About Storing Police Vehicles in Garages.

@CamaroGuy, then please explain to me how the garage system works. I do not yet have one and therefore cannot test the garage out.

@AlamasRetrohild, some like it and some don't.

 

Mechanic, tracker and insurance, and store in a garage I believe. Its not fool proof to not ever lose it single player just helps keep it around for a little bit.

 

Thanks for your reply mate. I tend to stick to single player, mp normally *** me off. I thought the insurance and mechanic systems were multiplayer only things.
