Region Locked Trying to My Change XBOX Gamer Tag

Greetings to the Microsoft Team,

So I've read a couple of threads like these that are left unsolved, and in my own experience, since I don't live in the US (Im from Asia). Whenever I want to change my Xbox Gamertag, the system directs me to the Payment Methods part, and I can't seem to complete the details since it asks me for:

1.) State (locked to the US)

2.) ZIP code (number of digits are based on a US address)

3.) Country Region - Apparently this option is grayed out and is locked to the US.

I only need to access these 3 questions so I can complete my payment method and finally pay $9.99 + taxes and so I can see my new Username. (My first gamertag had random numbers in it that annoyingly appears in most microsoft xbox games.) The first username change didn't require me to pay and I had a smooth transition in changing my gamertag. I just hope to have the same experience for my second gamertag change.

I've updated my Microsoft account, updated the exact region, managed my credit card info and billing/shipping addresses, and yet when I head to the Xbox gamertag change option again, it doesn't show my preferred credit card and is still locked to the US region.

I'm sure a number of users who want to change their gamertags and are living outside the US encounter this problem. So UNTIL this thread is answered or solved, I will comment down below saying if it worked for me.

Yes, I'm using Xbox for Windows 10, and I am well aware of that. Its 2023 and its unfortunate to see companies fail to recognize that some players live in Malaysia, Philippines, etc. and still don't have alternative solutions to problems like these.

I'm trying to contact their support now if they could offer me a free (1) pass to change my gamertag since the first time I tried changing my username, I didn't know the grayed out numbers beside my preferred gamertag would also reflect in games such as in Forza Horizon 5, etc.

In my opinion, its counter intuitive to implement rules and fees that not everyone has access to. If rather than let people "wait until Microsoft now has regional support", why not just have our gamertags change for free and have that name under that account be on lockdown for a year or so.

Until then, this Issue still remains Unsolved.

Yes, you can buy a gift card online or from other stores. That would be your other option, just make sure you buy at least 13-15 USD because tax maybe included upon purchase.

Hello,

I've already followed these steps and the XBOX Credit card Checkout page still locks "US" as my region. I use the same email as my Microsoft and XBOX account, and unfortunately it seems the system still doesn't recognize my region even though I've changed it already to Singapore.

Is there a way where I can just purchase a reedeemable giftcard same amount as the Name change for myself so I can just input the code and be on my way?

Until then, this Issue still remains Unsolved.

I understand you need help on changing your gamertag problem.

This must be due to the account being on a different region, most especially your Xbox account.

Try checking the region first on your Microsoft account with the instructions here:

Well first what region do you actually live in and what platform

If Xbox not XBOX FOR Windows 10 or 11 and you dont live in an xbox live for console.region there is no solution nor can anyone help you bypass the rules

You MUST wait till your region is actually supported

If any of the SEA REGIONS only on Pc Adding a different address wont work you must use the region migration tool under account.Microsoft.com

Doing it for.an console account wont work

You will always have a hashtag if your name isn't unique you will have to come up with unique spelling or.just a unique name

The system will always tell you if they have to add a hashtag because your name isn't unique or nor

There is no solution if you don't live in a xbox live region and no-one can help you break the rules to do so

If you read the thread there is usually.a solution just not always the one you want

Usually billing issues that are in unsupported regions means they can't resolve.it.Because of the rules
