region limitation on games

Hi,

after seen an old gameplay video I was excited to try kung-fu high impact on with my 360 kinect only to see the "not avilable in your region" message.

I have to ask, why?

why should a general old game not be available to me. does it have something to do with Israel?!

if I buy them from Microsoft online, what does it matter where I live?!

do I have to fake an offshore address just to get the games I want?

so many people hack their xbox to play free content. I wanted to do right and pay and what do I get? ugly censorship.

please don't force me to hack my box. let me be an honest user.

please stop discriminating your clients/users based on location. its ugly and wrong.

Unable to download "NFS the RUN"

I found my problem: recently (4 mounths ago) i've changed my region, and this game has limitation on region (pal/ntsc)

For what purpose was made this region limitation? т-т

 

(PAL) Xbox 360 connecting to (NTSC) "Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-36FV300" television via HDMI to RCA cable

I've heard that HDMI signals have no region lock though, and bypass such limitations, working on televisions from any region.

 

Its down to local goverment laws etc as to why some games are not published in certain regions.

It's nothing to do with Microsoft or the games publishers,they obviously want to release the games in as many countries as possible.

Changing your location in order to get region locked games will get you banned.Anyone hacking their console will also result in a console ban.

 

I am aware of that. I am still dissatisfied. don't see any logic in that.

I'm a loyal paying user. pleas don't threaten me with bans.

the law in Israel on games or copyrights isn't different then the one in the US.

maybe 2 years ago it had some problem but now it can be offered to my region?

who should I contact to see the matter? should I contact developer? or is microsoft managing the region issues?

I believe its worth looking into. I think I am entitled for that effort, wouldn't you say?

It would be up to the developer. However, being an older game they may not want to invest in trying to release it in other countries.

 

Also just to add, changing the region on your account would also not help with region locked games. Your account region and your physical location have to match in order to download them. So even if you were to create a fake location you still may not be
able to download the game.

Yes. This is an issue between the developer and your government's legal system. Not Microsoft.

 

I have not threatened you with a ban,i was simply stating what would happen to anyone if they did those things

 

got in touch with the Developer and it turns out to be a publisher/microsoft issue only.

Your best bet is probably to try and hunt down a DVD version of the game (even though we're not actually getting paid for those . However, I don't know what DVD region works in Israel. Is it Europe or Asia? Amazon UK has a few European region copies left

....There is hope in the future though. Microsoft is finally coming to its senses with Xbox One. Soon they will be allowing any indie developer to publish a game on Xbox One without the need to go through a third-party publisher. We hope to port our Kung-Fu
games to Xbox One eventually, but I guess that's not much help right now...
