Region error trying to purchase Gamepass Ultimate upgrade

My Microsoft profile was previously set to a UK locale. I changed it as well as the Xbox location to South Africa. I also loaded a 12mth MEA region Live Gold subscription successfully and have working
Gold access and can also purchase games in South African Rand.

All was fine until I tried to upgrade to Gamepass when I hit a region error. This happens from the Xbox UI as well as the browser. The pop-up suggests changing your region or contacting support if that doesn't
work.

As Xbox support is virtually unavailable in South Africa at present, could I request a support ticket is opened for me? (Call centre IVR refers you to the website to request a callback, website does not offer the facility to request a callback, chat is unavailable
or not useful as it cuts off abruptly)

Will it be possible for Xbox support to resolve the region/currency conflict and mark my Gold subscription against the correct region so that I can upgrade to Gamepass?

I’ve recently purchased Xbox Gamepass for console, when I try to upgrade it to Gamepass ultimate it shows an error. I’ve done this on both the website (my profile subscription page) and the Xbox subscription thing on the Xbox’s settings app, neither work.

Hello there, first open up your gamepass app and see if you dont already have gamepass ultimate or unless your regular gamepass is expired. If it doesn't let you upgrade from console, try the browser website or buy a gamepass ultimate giftcard and redeem it. It will automatically upgrade it to ultimate. Hope this helps!

Both Xbox live gold and gamepass are included in ultimate, so you don’t need to purchase these subscriptions separately.

On your account, you should be given the option to upgrade to ultimate, if not just purchase ultimate as this will automatically upgrade your existing membership.

Gamepass is £7.99 a month and Xbox live gold is £6.99 a month, so worth upgrading if use both to save money and have a 2-in-1, Ultimate is £10.99
