Regarding permanent ban on XBOX accounts

In September 2023, I was told by MS that my XBOX account was permanently banned and imposed a ban on the use of hundreds of game software libraries and gamertags.

The cause was probably the manipulation of RetroArch, a software program that could be used to emulate old games.

However, this RetroArch was not illegally downloaded, but rather was a normal placeholder in the XBOX store, and I have certainly used it to upload images to post to the community, but I have never played any illegal game software with it.

Nor have I touched RetroArch since I was banned from playing online for 15 days in August, probably for the same reason. In the first place, RetroArch was no longer able to be activated, probably because MS had banned me before that.

Despite this, MS banned me. Does this not amount to a double penalty for the same problem? If so, I don't think that is fair, and I would like to seek redress somehow, but MS is not accepting my renewed complaint. I would also like to seek a satisfactory explanation.

Well, that's right. I know it is my fault for operating the software that was violated.

However, I still don't agree with being penalized twice for the same problem.

As for the consoles, I have not been banned.

I know how frustrating it is as I'm a gamer myself. Unfortunately, the Xbox enforcement team is an isolated department and no one in the community forums or Microsoft support is capable of assisting with enforcement actions.

Retail mode bypasses the xbox store

Its not allowed on the xbox store but the windows store due to github since its is a github project

Since you broke the rules as pointed out

MS has.been clear for.years

Using dev.mode.or.retail mode to pirate will earn you a ban

Though they havent on dev mode yet

The forums.moderators mention it back when people asked for retail mode to install retro arch which usually earned you a locked thread

I got it via the official XBOX store app, on the XBOX console, not the MS store.

And there are plenty of other users who have done the same thing and still have it available (of course, that doesn't excuse my transgressions...).

What I don't agree with the most is that once you are penalized, you are punished for the same problem even though you have not done anything illegal since then.
