It appears that the capture location for your external drive is saved to GameDVR folder and XboxCapture copies folder. When copying multiple copies it goes directly to Xbox Capture Copies folder while captures clip is directly saved to GameDVR folder.

The GameDVR folder in external storage is a folder that contains the game clips and screenshots that you have recorded using the Xbox Game DVR feature on your console. The Game DVR feature allows you to capture your gameplay moments and share them with your friends or on social media. After recording clips, your external drive can now be plugged into a PC, where the traditional video files can be extracted. To see where your captures are saved, open the Xbox App, select Settings, and then select Game DVR. Under Saving captures, select Open folder to see your captures in File Explorer.

By default, game clips and screenshots are saved in your Videos folder, in a folder named
Captures. This can be moved to different places on your PC, including elsewhere on your hard drive or to external drives. Your Windows 10 PC saves the default storage to where the Captures folder is created.

For those of you who are having issues with recording clips and not having them actually save or for those of you who can't use Kinect voice commands, you can still record clips successfully using the Game DVR app. Unlike the "record that" voice command
feature that records up to the last 30 seconds only, the Game DVR app doesn't require voice commands and will record up to the last 5 minutes if you end a clip or up to 5 minutes if you start a clip. I've never had it fail to save a recording this way and
you're more likely to capture what you intended even if you wait for a significant amount of time (within 5 minutes). Try it!

This particular issue involves a bug of some sort with the recording process of the DVR causing lower FPS and the video to look laggy and not where the clips are saved so I'm not sure saving to an external drive will make a difference. However, I'd be happy

I don't this will make a difference until the Insider devs find a solution and provide it in the next update. You can always leave the program and unenroll your console to go back to the general public build where the issue does not seem to be presented.

Hi, you can use the xbox dvr but the length is short, if you want to record longer videos you'll need an external capture card. you can dowload the clips you record with the dvr with the xbox app on the pc or by uploading them on onedrive.
