Refunds for Digital games

When the sale was up i thought they were Doom that released on the origional xbox. They weren't, so instead of keeping them I asked for a refund. The games were only played for seconds so support refunded the 5 bucks. Interesting that both games remained
in ready to install months afterwards before finally fading away.

Personally, I don't consider asking for or receiving refunds for digital purchases is thieft, but MS evidently does.

 

If you've purchased a digital game, played it and found out the game has major issues then yes you should be able to get a refund.

Played a game and found out you don't like it then no I don't think you should be entitled to a refund. Like my local GAME store ( not sure if they still do same ) take a game back un opened, still sealed and they would give you a full refund, if it was
opened then they would offer you trade in value.

Once I got a refund from Microsoft on a digital pre order. Found out before release I'd won a physical copy just before release. Phoned them up and they were extremely helpful and I got my money back with no hassle.

As for the talk above about Microsoft considering it theft, sorry I think that's complete cobblers.

 

They only consider it theft Electro (not thieft) if someone obtains a refund for a game then purchases the same game again plays some more of the game then goes for the refund again and then repeats the process. So in for genuine cases they don't consider
it theft and stop trying to make them out as the corporate bad guys as usual.

 

It clearly states "no refunds" when you buy a digital game but obviously if the game is broken then you can get a refund or you can cancel a digital pre order.

As it states no refunds how exactly are Microsoft thieving?

It's when you start to abuse the refund system that you get a ban but the whole refund thing is a bit of a grey area.

 

they do give refunds if it is for a specific reason, basically if the game is broken or glitching and you have tried re installing, but they check your account, if you have had 2 refunds in the past year for the same reasons they usually do it one more time
at there discretion but after that then it becomes clear that there is a pattern and will not issue a refund unless it is a known game breaking issue. to many refunds equals pulling a fast one and can lead to a ban for market place theft as you have bought
the game played it then got a refund.

 

Refunds are fine if its for a good reason. If they said No Refunds full stop, they would be breaching certain legal right especially since NZ and Australia have tougher consumer rights legislation. And in their terms, it says if you aquired your contract
outside the US, your countries laws apply. But it doesnt mean customers should abuse the refund system, that is wrong.

I found kingvas comment about car petrol funny. I guess if youre young or immature you might think about a refund on petrol or something. If you buy food and it tastes off or has a bug in it, under NZ law you can ask for a refundm If they refuse, then its
off to the commerce commission and then they get told off by them.

 

Yes, MS says. "No refunds." However morality and common sence says otherwise.

Glad to know that xbox support, apart from MS legal. Has at least common sence in spades, I don't view that as. "Gray areas."

 

Because people have been banned for getting refunds when they shouldn't have.

Support shouldn't of given them refunds in the first place but did.

There is no official source that says how any refunds you can have & for what reason so like I said,it's a bit of a grey area.

 

If the game is broken, then yes you are entitled to a refund by law (UK). I've had a refund on 3 games because they were pushed out too soon and didn't work as they should have.

For example, since Microsoft has offices in NZ, then it's a business in NZ. Thus they fall under the jurisdiction of the country too. The same with Australia.
