Refund on non-necessary charge

Today my xbox told me I'd have to play offline because I needed to pay for live. It was the first warning my xbox given me and it was after it was too late. The reason my live had run out was because somehow an autorenewal on an old xbox had been reactivated
and so instead of telling me I was almost out of live it just tried to charge my card, which no longer is in my possession. I was forced to update my payment information in order to do anything, which resulted in an immediate charge to my new card rather than
letting me put in the code for the prepaid 12 month card that I had already bought months in advance. Is there anything I can do to get back the money for the 12 month card renewal that I did not need?

If You bought a prepaid points there is nothint to refund You will just have to use Its on non region locked content

Xbox Support has very limited options for refunds. I won't provide that detail here but they are limited. There are only a few exceptions.

Unfortunately you will not receive a refund as subscriptions are non refundable and you won't be charged any fees for cancelling. If you wish to cancel immediately you'll need to contact Xbox Support, or you can switch off auto renewal and you won't be charged
when the subscription expires
