did she cancel Ultimate Game Pass or did she turn off recurring billing/auto renew?

if she only turned off recurring billing then the subscription will continue up to the renewal date

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We see you want to cancel a subscription. When cancelling a subscription, you need to turn off the auto renew first. If you cancel the subscription most times it auto refunds the charge if recently charged.
Once that is off, then a subscription can be cancelled. Here is a guide to

When you purchase Game Pass, it does warn you that you are starting a recurring subscription. So by completing the purchase, you did start the subscription. It is up to you to turn off auto-renewal before you are charged again.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. The Xbox Game Pass trail was set up as a recurring subscription. Once the trial period is over, the account will begin charging for the subscription if auto renew is not disabled. The article entitled

how to request a refund. Be sure to let us know the results!

It is assumed that when you cancel it, the remaining months continue until you activate the renewal again, or am I wrong?

that's the case if you turn off recurring billing/auto renew.

but if you cancel the subscription then the subscription stops (and if applicable there may be a refund depending on how the subscription was taken out)
