    Referenced Memory Read Error

    Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to share about the problem with Civ6.

Please note that the error simply means that the game has crashed. You need to contact the game's developers for further assistance.

Based on the information you have shared, we understand that you are playing Civ6, and since your concern is posted in the wrong category (Windows 11/Performance and system failures) we will be moving this thread to the correct category (Game issues), where moderators in the corresponding category will assist you further on your concern.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Unable to play any Microsoft PC games without getting error message.

Installed a new ASUS ROG Strix Riser and still didn't work but that wasn't the reason why I bought it. Just needed more space to move it lower. So I tried it without the riser and plug in the card into MB only, didn't work either.

So far only error it came up this time was below.

Application popup: Gears 5: Gears5.exe - Application Error : The instruction at 0x00007FF6295F016A referenced memory at 0x0000000000000000. The memory could not be read.

I've already tried swapping memory and testing it one by one. I don't know what else to do.

Fallout76 GamePass error: instruction at 0x00007FF71B78E360 referenced memory at 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this Nadia

Just to make a brief summary, the errors and lags appears just when you connect the laptop to the universal / generic charger?
If that's the case and if you don't mind. Can you try using an original charger to see how it goes?

    -----
In the meantime, is this error appearing only when you play fallout 76?
If you didn't try it. Can you test with different games to see how it goes?

And, please select high performance in your PC energy settings

How to get help for Flight Simulator 2020?

    Hi,

The behaviour you’ve described is a known issue. There are hundreds of reports with various error codes in the following threads (there’s a summary option to highlight the most helpful/important responses):

MSFS Application Error - memory could not be read - CTDs

CTDs The instruction at 0x*referenced memory at 0x*. The memory could not be written - MSFS DevSupport

You could even perform a clean install or completely reset your PC and it won’t necessarily make a difference to the error. This is something that would need to be resolved in a game update/patch, which should be soon as Asobo Studio are generally pretty good at addressing performance issues in regular updates.

You should contact the developers (not Microsoft/Xbox) to properly address this as the game is their responsibility and they would be able to advise further:

Submit a request- Microsoft Flight Simulator Support

When contacting support, select ‘I need technical support’ as the reason and ‘I’m experiencing CTDs/Crashing issues’ as the specific concern. Be sure to include as much detailed info as possible with your Windows OS version and build, any minidump files and DirectX logs, and any third party software.

You can also reach out to the team on Twitter @MSFS_Support or @AsoboStudio - they both accept DMs.

    Hope this helps.
