Reedeming a code

After i have been in contact with xbox support they advised me to contact You guys here.

The issue is that the code is US and my account is in Finland.

Ryan B: Thank you. So the reason why you cannot redeem the code is because of a region mismatch between your code which is in US and your account which is in Finland. So we do have a dedicated team who specify in these types of scenarios, let me create
a case for this so that after the chat session, please post on our Promotions Forums at Uh oh... that shouldn't have happened. but please
do not post the code itself there, just your concern, and request for your code to be replaced with the region in Finland. Our Promotions Team will be able to address this for you and hopefully replace the code for your game.

Hey Muscke! Your region and physical location must match. Please double check your region and ensure it is set to the location your Xbox is physically located in. Give that a shot and let me know how it goes!

Yes, the region is set on the correct location. The xbox support team informed me the code which I bought online it's for US and I live in Finland. The shop from where I bought the code apparently forgot to mention that.

 

Could You guys please give a hand out here??

 

you don't understand the codes are universal

If you are getting an region error it would be because your account is set to the wrong region

If you selected UK that isn't the same as finland

And would cause the region error

You can check at commerce.microsoft.com

It shpuld.be noted if it's gears yes your account region must reflect your actual region

So if you have finland but UK language that won't work

 

My shipping address and region are both set for Finland, even the language is in finnish, still won't work...

 

If it's a code for currency, then it would region locked. You would need to contact the retailer you purchased it from for a refund/exchange.

If it's a code for a game it should be universal. If your account region matches your physical location, try going to http://commerce.microsoft.com to try re-entering your information (even if it is correct) and/or
try migrating your account region (https://live.xbox.com/accountmigration)

If it still doesn't work, you would need to contact the retailer you purchased it from for a refund/exchange since the code was not purchased from Xbox.

 

Thank you Smwutches! My account was created in Great Britain and I went to account migration and switched to Finland. I lost my 12 moth live gold but at least every thing should by in order any ideas if my previous games (which i buyed them from xbox
in Finland) would work after this change?

If they were already downloaded to your console or are not region locked, then you should not have any issues playing them.
