Redeeming Gift Code but get a "Georestricted error"

Hi,

I have a Xbox gift code delivred with my new computer that I bought in Martinique but as soon as I follow the instructions write in it the website says that my code cannot be used and that it was bought in another country that the country I use with my microsoft account even if it is wrote "(Martinique)" which is a french department too. So I don't understand, how to fix this ?

Are you also located in the US? Because for gifted codes, they are georestricted and both parties should be on the same region. If this cannot be redeemed because of that problem, you would need to have this gifted code refunded instead.

I dont think you fully realize the issue

GIFTing is region locked

Period

So if your friend has a us account the funds would be still in US

AND cant be redeemed o. Anything but a US account

If it is a xbox 360 game those are region locked

There is a reason why vpn isnt recommended

You will have to address it with your vpn provider since it is against the terms of use we cant discuss how to fix it

But it would an common issue with the vpn services and you have to address it with the provider

I'm not using it to bypass anything xbox related. I guess it just got in the way of this. I'll turn it off and see if it works

Gifting is region locked. If you're not actually in the region the code is for, it will not work. Using a VPN to try to gain access to another region will not bypass a region lock and is a violation of the terms of service.

Well, the code was bought in the same region as my microsoft account.
