Redeem older Microsoft points card

Hi

I am trying to redeem an old microsoft prepaid points card. This was from the old system that ended a few years ago. When the system changed from points to dollars these cards had no expiry and could be credited at a later date and would auto convert to
my local currency.

When I try to redeem the card and enter its 25 character code, the card is recognised as a points prepaid token however when confirming to activate it, I get an error

This has been happening for a month now and I cannot find any information relating to this error code. I contacted microsoft live chat to assist with this, over a few days of investigating I was told they were unable to help and to ask here. The reason
they gave it because the prepaid card credit cannot be redeemed in the current system. Surely there is a workaround to this?

Microsoft Pre Paid Cards

Since Microsoft points are gone will the existing Microsoft Points Pre paid cards work or will Microsoft be making new prepaid cards to replace the old ones because I don't like using the credit card where you have to give all this information I rather just
redeem a code and thats it.

Hopefully the remaining Microsoft points that people have will be converted to local currency, or else that would be a huge waste. I found an FAQ on this, hopefully the information is true.

Since that is not a rewards program issue, rewards support will not be able to assist. When that system was changed, it was made known that those cards would eventually expire. So if it's not working, there is no work around.

Xbox Gift Cards (denominated in your local currency) will be available for purchase in retail stores and through online retailers later this year. Microsoft Points Cards you purchase at retail will continue to be redeemable on your console and Xbox.com until
further notice. Microsoft has no plans to discontinue acceptance of previously purchased Points cards and codes.

No friend, all prepaid xbox cards have a date limit, and more if they are a gift for an event.

well, same problem here, i did contact with microsoft customer support, and they demand me the receipt, that logically i didnt have, because i get this codes long time ago. So i paid for this codes and i cannot redeem them.

Microsoft discontinued the point system in 2013. So at this point any cards that are still out there are not guaranteed to work.
