    Red Dead Redemption BC Not Working


    I'd say it is likely to work, because it seems like there may be a corrupt file stopping it from working. To factory reset, you can completely power down your system, then hold both the eject disk button and the controller sync button on the side of the
    xbox, whilst holding both of those buttons, power on the xbox and it will show you some option on screen, use the d-pad to select factory reset and select to remove everything. Then the system will start up after a minute and act like it is brand new, asking
    you to do the steps you did when you first got it.

    That's really odd. That is normally the last resort for when nothing else works. You said nothing happens, normally there is an error. Try inserting it and waiting a few minutes. There should an error or it will start installing in my games and apps. Also
    make sure you are giving it a minutes, when you insert the disk it should come with a thing saying this game needs an update.

    I've left in there for the past ten minutes or so. The only time I've removed it was to reset the console.

    What region is your console set in? It may help if you change your region to either United States or United Kingdom and try again. If this doesn't work, then I'm not sure what will. You've done everything that is supposed to work to fix the problem, yet

    I'm in the US, so I'll try switching to the UK.

    The BC works digitally, but I prefer having physical items. Plus, the standard RDR is $30 in the store which lead me to getting the physical copy which was cheaper.

    If this does't work, is there anything else that can be done?

    Nothing else can be done, outside of getting another copy and see if maybe you just got extremely unlucky, but that is highly doubt-able due to it working on a friend's system. I completely understand getting a physical version though, it is quite expensive
    digitally. The last resort is just waiting to see if it works next time you get an update.

    Yes, absolutely. I bought a download Xbox 360 code for Dead Red Redemption when it became BC for the Xbox One. I redeemed it on the console and downloaded it no problem. DLC codes for BC games will work too.

    Yes, I've tried doing that. This would be my 3rd attempt, but still nothing. I no longer own any other 360 disks except for the copy of Red Dead.

    How long have you been trying? Also when talking to Microsoft Support, did you do a hard reset or full power cycle?

    I got the first copy of the game about a week ago. Went through the process of both hard resetting and power cycling, to no avail. Now, I have a different copy of the game and still nothing works.

    Have you gotten an update today at all? The November update released to the public today, and if for some reason your console doesn't see that update, you may have to wait until it notices it. Where you would go to update the console, it tells you the last
    date it updated.

    Yes, I downloaded that update earlier today.

    What version of the game do you have? Is it a single disk or Game of the Year?

    Single disk. The previous one was GoTY.

    When you had the GOTY, did you try installing it with both disks? Also, is there any way you could get access to another backwards compatible 360 game on disk?

    There is one other way you could get it to possibly work, but it may not be worth the effort. You could try factory resetting the console. All save data is saved on the cloud, so you won't lose progress, but you will have to reinstall all of the games you
    have and will have to re-download all profile on the xbox.
