Recycling Gamertags

Hey, does anyone knows ways to get unavailable , untaken gamertags? I heard they get recycled every quater of a year and have stayed up every night trying to get one incase they recycle. Is there any dates or possibilities of me getting one.?

Yeah but the gamertag isnt in use anymore when you go to look up the gamertag I want no profile comes up

there is no official statement of when and if unavailable/inactive gamertags are recycled and how often etc.

All that is known is that the terms of use were changed in the past to have a requirment to be active within a 5 years period, but there is no statement if that will result in the Gamertags becoming available for others.

I remember that a few months ago, Microsoft released unused Gamertags from accounts that became inactive. While they didn't list the Gamertags that were released, I remember them releasing around nearly one million Gamertags.

The best guess is just waiting for Gamertags to be released and hoping that the one you want is available.

So basically there's no way, at the moment, to know if the gamertag you want will be available one day...

 

Some gamertags will just never be released, for various reasons. There are still millions of options, to create unique gamertags. I personally would rather have one that hasn't been thought of, or used by another gamer.
