    Recovering old Xbox live account


    I've an old Xbox live account dating back to my days on the 360 from waaay back in the day, however the email address it used is now defunct due to the provider getting bought out and absorbed into a larger company. Been trying to get through to Microsoft's
    live chat but keep getting bumped elsewhere - which isn't particularly helpful as this isn't an issue the 'community' can help me with. What's the route I'm supposed to follow?

    If you remember the login information for your old account, you can recover it to the new Xbox. Instructions on recovering accounts can be found here -

    PLEASE HELP! Your Gamertag is not valid. Please sign in with another or recover gamertag.

    Plug the old xbox directly into your router, connect to xbox live with your account. This should update it on live's severs.

    Now, recover it on the new xbox.

    With two step verification turned on there is nothing anyone even xbox support can help you with.

    Have you tried reopening that old email account?

    Like for instance if it was a gmail account seeing if you could just create a new gmail account with that same username?

    I have the name of the card holder when I first made the account and a couple of e-mails saying the credit card is expired.
