Recovering a new account

I created a new hotmail account for my son, but it has been locked because the password was entered incorrectly too many times.

The account is brand new, so it doesn't have any of the identifying features that the automated password reset looks for- (ie. either passwords used in the past, names and subjects of emails sent, purchases made etc).

He purchased a game under this account and if I create a new email for him, I will have to purchase the game again- which I am reluctant to do.

Is there anything that can be done?

I apologize but the only way or option is through the recovery form, that will be the best option.

Just a tip, kindly use the same device that was used in creating the account and if you have already signed in the account on an Xbox console you can also enter the console’s Xbox Live ID on the form.

Nope can't if the offline account cannot exist online

Either you have Xbox live account or a offline account

If a family account needs to be recovered then the parental account must be used to accept the new terms of use

Then you need to sign into Xbox.com and you need to accept the new terms of use with the child account

When you say you are recovering the 2nd account it is a online account

You cannot recover a offline account as it is only on your hd

You must accept the new terms of use before you can recover an account or accept the new update

A failed recovery will only corrupt the local copy of the gamertag

This is why you must recover the account before you can use it again
